Nargis Relief Work 2008

Category 4 cyclone Nargis hit Myanmar in May 2008, leaving several hundred thousands deaths, morbidities and homeless. The after effect was confounded by a delayed rescue programme set out by the military regime at that time. All international rescue aids were not allowed into the country. Brighter Future Foundation started aid work on the ground with twenty volunteers from the 10th of May 2008, mainly focussing in Ayerawaddy delta which was the worst hit and hard to reach area. An immediate relief work was offered by donating food, clothing and clean water. This was then followed by planning and building huts to offer housings for survivals. A total donation of £3950 and 10,00000 kyats was made in addition to other commodities collected from friends and families in Myanmar. We thank all of those who took this rescue journey with us in different forms - by donating money, or by coming along with us in those rescue trips or by sharing prayers - in saving those poor victims. Finally, our deepest thanks to Dr. Ohnmar Aung and friends from UNICEF (Yangon) and Friends School (Saffron Walden, UK).
